The Issue
My fellow neighborhood residents and I face a significant threat to our health and property values – the impending construction of a 5G wireless tower. This situation directly affects all of us living here, with potential detrimental effects on our health and local wildlife, and could even cause a decrease in our hard-owned property values.
Scientific research has indicated potential health risks associated with exposure to the kind of radiation emitted by 5G towers. According to a study by the National Toxicology Program (NTP), there is “clear evidence” that male rats exposed to high levels of radio frequency radiation like that used in 2G and 3G cell phones developed malignant heart tumors (Source: National Institutes of Health). And while there is a lack of long-term studies on the health effects of 5G radiation specifically, it is reasonable to be concerned that it could have similar effects.
In addition, the World Health Organization categorizes radiofrequency electromagnetic fields as potentially carcinogenic. This becomes exceedingly concerning, considering the proximity of the proposed tower to our homes.
Moreover, the presence of cell towers has been linked to decreased property values. According to a study published in The Appraisal Journal, properties near cell towers decreased in value by up to 20% (Source: The Appraisal Journal).
Our health, the well-being of our local wildlife, and the value of our properties are at stake. Let’s stand together, as a community, and call upon our local city council to halt the construction of this 5G tower. Protect our neighborhood; protect our health. Please, sign this petition.
